Honey, Lavender and Aloe Toner

· honey,lavender,skincare,akwablog,aloe toner

There has been much debate as to whether toners actually provide the skin with any sort of benefit. Personally I’m on the side which believes they don’t have any significant effect on the skin but I like to use my homemade ones purely because they add a pampering element to my everyday skincare routine. It’s important to note that you should only use this toner at night though because the lemon juice in it can make your skin a bit sensitive to light as it has photosensitive properties in it.

YOU WILL NEED:

-1 tablespoon of honey

-4-6 drops of lavender essential oil

-1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice

-2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel

METHOD:

-Put your honey and aloe vera gel in a container and shake up until combined together.

-Add your lemon juice and your drops of essential oils. (You don’t necessarily need to use lavender oil but as I said earlier I use this toner at night so the lavender in it has a calming and soothing effect – perfect for just before bed!)

-Shake up all the ingredients again and make sure they are really well combined.

-Pour into a bottle or container. I like to use a spritzer bottle but for other ideas on how to store your DIY products see here

-This can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 months

I hope you enjoy this recipe for a natural toner. Like I said, toners don’t have much extra added benefit to your skincare routine but they are nice to use as a pampering and refreshing treat in between cleansing and moisturising. This toner is useful for all skin types but over the next few weeks I will be writing down some more toner recipes for specific skin types.
